Stone ball

Stone balls are a phenomenon that attracts more and more tourists in BiH. One of the largest and first discovered, was found 15 years ago in the village of Slatina.

Located in an attractive forest setting, half-buried in a stream which during the summer is left without water, is an attractive destination for walkers and visitors to the spa Slatina. The origin of the ball is officially never investigated and proven. There are many theories about its emergence. One of them is that the ball is a magmatic rock, and the shape of the ball is obtained thanks to the work of natural forces, primarily water, since there is a stream next to it, which in earlier times may have been a larger river.

Another theory says that a huge stone massif is actually a meteorite. The third theory that speaks of the fact that the ball is a work of human hands, that is, the ball is a legacy of ancient civilizations for which there are no written traces. When it comes to the time and way of making stone balls, geologists agree in the view that man has nothing to do with the emergence of this natural phenomenon. The period and method of formation of stone balls found in this area is called initial geosyncline vulcanism. It is known that the Pannonian Sea from these areas withdrew seven million years ago, which means that the spheres were formed deep under the surface of the sea, in the midst of volcanic activity. When it comes to the way the spheres are created, geologists say:

"During the eruption of the volcano, the lava-shaped rocks were thrown into the depths of the sea, which created additional scratches and pieces in several parts, and under the influence of water and sudden cooling, a round shape was created with a manganese sheath that gave the balls additional strength." Regardless of scientific explanations of this phenomenon, more and more tourists and bioenergists come to Slatina to see, touch or embrace this stone boulder because they believe that it has positive radiation and spreads our aura.
